Can I get a good paying job?

I was a Probation Officer and then was charged with assault that was dropped to disorderly person. My son's dad and I were arguing and i pushed him. He called the police to just get me in trouble, which I did. Now I'm on probation myself for 6 mos, out of work, and wondering where my life is headed. I'm back living with my parents in Florida, I had to leave my son behind with his dad in Michigan b/c his dad has joint custody and I'm unable to move my son more than 100 miles away. I'm desperate for work, but will anyone hire me after doing a background check? I wasn't convicted, just charged. I need to be able to support myself and my son. I can't live in Florida forever with my parents.
