Car accident hit and run procedure?

Most insurance carriers will ask for a Police report; not sure why they don't get it themselves, unless it's because some people involved in an accident do not file a report with the Police and/or they don't know to get the report from them.....................the good aspects are that the other driver was found, and the case is in the works
