Colored canvases for painting?

I saw an article on Aelita Andre on the yahoo site and she always seems to have red or blue or black canvases to paint on (instead of the regular white that I see at the supply stores)? Does she paint those the general color first or can artists buy different colored canvases somewhere to paint on? I know she uses acrylic paint...
